In Things Break apart by Chinua Achebe, someone is taken on a fictional journey to a Nigerian group, the Umuofia, to experience first hand the struggles of a warrior named Okonkwo. At first glance, the novel seems to be written to get a very specific audience: college students familiar with Nigerian history, customs, and lifestyle. However , after further evaluation the novel reveals on its own to be a dazzling chronicle of human experiences, universal themes, and ageless struggles that appeal to each human, no matter familiarity with Nigerian culture. As a whole, the book appears to be considerably more than the total of their parts: format, diction, figurative language, imagery, repetition, and symbols. Points Fall Apart is definitely a novel with literary worth.
